Discovering Cecina
Cecina, on the Etruscan Coast, is a destination much-loved by families who want to spend a seaside holiday in Tuscany. The sandy beaches are perfect for children, thanks to the gently sloping seabeds and the well-equipped beaches, which are also easy to get to on foot or by bike.
One of the many highlights of the area is the coastal pine forest, crossed by flat paths ideal for strollers and family bike rides. The pedestrian and cycle paths connecting Cecina and Cecina Mare make it safe to travel between the beach, the pine forest and the town centre: a real joy, even for families with very small children!
In and around Cecina, you’ll find some of the most popular amusement parks in Tuscany: Acqua Village, the water park with slides and pools for children of all ages; Parco Gallorose, a zoological garden perfect for introducing little children to the animal world and nature in an educational and stimulating setting.
Also in the surroundings, other places worth visiting include Cavallino Matto, the biggest amusement park in Tuscany, and historical villages like Bolgheri, famous for its avenue of cypress trees, as well as Populonia, where you can visit the famous Baratti and Populonia Archaeological Park, a splendid Etruscan acropolis built by the sea.
Just half an hour from Cecina, at the Archaeological Mines Park of San Silvestro, there’s no shortage of fantastic activities for children and youngsters: the Bike Skill Park, where they can try their hand at riding mountain bikes together with certified professionals; a visit to the Lanzi Gallery aboard the mine train; a visit to the Museum of Mining Machinery, the Miner’s Museum and the Temperino Museum.
