“Green” beaches in Italy
Are you looking for the ideal seaside resort for you and your children? In addition to “blue” beaches, you can now also opt for “green” ones: that is to say, beaches which have been awarded the special “Green Flag” status by Italian paediatricians! There are 83 of them in Italy, covering the whole country from north to south. These are beaches considered suitable for children because they fulfil a series of basic requirements.
Every year from 2008 onwards, more than 900 Italian paediatricians belonging to SIPPS (the Italian Society of Preventive and Social Paediatrics) have assessed which beaches are best for families with children under 18 on the basis of environmental suitability.
