.jpg) Every year in the Italian cities a terrible war between families occurs for the assignation of a place at the nursery. A first step to face the issue seriously consists in conceiving new forms of childhood assistance, alternative to the nursery but not less good. Acting in the sense of a differentiation of services to childhood means not only giving a peaceful sleep to parents who have lost the possibility of having their child entered the nursery, but also giving recognition to new professionalism. It is in this direction that in 1995 in Trentino Alto Adige a group of thirteen women came together in the social cooperative "Casa Bimbo" and started creating a new way of transmitting skills and identity of a new professional figure: the Tagesmutter, mother in the day. They had the idea and the name on loan from Nordic countries, where the domestic kindergarten has long been institutionalized. The success of the initiative, soon imitated by other women, and their commitment to achieve a legislative regulation were crucial for the diffusion of the model throughout Italy. Tagesmutter service can be used by families with children aged between 3 months and 3 years. The child is entrusted to a precise operator who makes her home a domestic kindergarten, receiving every support from her cooperative. Precise criteria fix the number of children per domiciliary nursery. In periods outside school children under 13 are also allowed. The winning ingredient is the flexibility, the hours in fact are set according to the needs of parents. The operator exercise her profession according to a precise program of education and meeting regularly the parents. The model is having great success everywhere and in Milan people sometimes organise a training for the establishment and operation of a domestic kindergarten. For working families with children tagesmutters represent a significant opportunity, given, it is not a coincidence, by women, able to look at the planet of childhood as a resource and not as a problem.
