The great sea of Web |
If at dawn of Internet people spoke about Net security that could only be for military-strategic purposes.Today people speak of Net security in didactic-pedagogic terms and this is symptomatic of the unpredictable way that the network of networks has taken. From the top secret protocol of Arpanet, data processing parent of the World Wide Web, forty years have passed and the Internet revolution is history. Every day billions of people surfing the web. A lot of them are minors and many children. Young people use Internet for many reasons chats, study, entertainment, music, youtube, search engines. Behind the numbers (impossible to establish), any kind of licit and illicit business has run wild. The child pornography and the sexual exploitation of minors in the Net have unfortunately found a fertile ground. Protecting children from the little and big dangers that are implied in the electronic navigation has become a requirement that cannot be put off. There is a new Italian browser that is working effectively to protect the navigation of the smallest “Il Veliero” (Sailorship). Designed by a team of scholars of psycho-pedagogy, in collaboration with experts in computer science, “Il Veliero” aims at making children navigate in the best of the Web in a safe way. Drawn up in 2 different versions, Family (free) and School, the Veliero has a “Capitano” (Captain) who leads his crew through the selected sites and a “Nostromo” (Boatswain, the parents or the teacher) that can enable new sites. The intuitive and nice interface has already conquered the children and the staff of Italy Family Hotels and The “Veliero” School has already received the acknowledgement of Ministry of Education. With “Il Veliero” the little sea dogs can always surf in safe waters and discover that even the most courageous captains have a history of life buoy and brackets.
