Happy first birthday to you! |
In Wonderland the crazy mad hatter everyday celebrates for a festivity that he invents. In the real world, unfortunately, we are protagonists of the merrymaking only for our birthday. But at least once in our life we all have lived a “non-birthday”. In fact, on the occasion of the first birthdays when we are small it is impossible to understand what exactly people is celebrating and why. Only growing up we can understand the meaning of the candles to be blown out on the cake. The first parties are rather a trick to make the child feel all the affection that surrounds him and it will be good to conceive and to organize them as simple joyful moments to be spent in family. The rule of +1 establishes the number of the guests for the birthday: adding one to the age of the child you will find the number of welcome guests. According to this rule, that is dictated by common sense, only Mom and Dad should be present when their baby is blowing out his first candle but, with the benefit of the approximation by excess, his brother and a cousin also will be welcome guests. Let’s just remember that the first birthday can not become a society occasion that would only create too much mess around the baby. Some colored cutlery and tablecloth, some decoration on the walls, some fruit juice and a little cake will be the delicious and funny trick to make the child feels the importance of the event that is dedicated to him. A nice picture of the birthday will end with many others in a book that, when he will be grown-up, will explain to him everything that happened around him in the nebula of his early childhood. An increasingly large group of friends posing for the picture with the tasty cake, soft drinks instead of juices and some sweets, gradually will mark the transition from “non-birthday” to birthday, and the rule of +1, that has nicely been of great help, will be put aside or return useful for other babies. Meanwhile good first birthday to you! Posted by arininchi 28/04/2008
