A marble per head |
From several years they have already come back to have some air, and some sand: we are speaking about the marbles with their phantasmagorical colors. If there is a thing that is trendy today this is the vintage. From London second-hand markets, it has expanded to become a real lifestyle. We are living years of financial straits and the salvage is becoming crucial in every area. The connotation of this new art of getting along, far from being negative, has acquired a trendy taste and, in some ways, even ethical. Above all, all characterized as it is by the fantastic and creative reuse of what was left in the garret for decades, it is reserving to us some pleasant surprises. Also on Italian beaches, rolling down from the '60s, cheecoting is in great fashion. Only the name is new: cheecoting instead of marbles’ game, but no wonder because the English, we know, plays the lord and master. The Tools and rules of the game are unchanged: 1. Carefully let set a track on the sand to create a route that has few or many difficulties (tunnels, castles, uphill curves); 2. Everyone let get a marble; 3. In its turn, let follow it in the adventurous ups and downs caused by the snap of thumb and forefinger, trying to lead it as soon as possible to the arrival flag. That’s all. The result, now as then, is pure fun. The participants in the game are not only children but, in great number, adults that, galvanized by getting again out of its control and by rediscovering in them the fire of their youth, have more chance for victory. But they will certainly want to give some good advice to the apprentices… Above all, to balance the challenge, there is the enthusiasm that always arouses in cheecoting beginners. Given the success with marbles’ vintage (already protagonists of an event in Rimini), who knows that we does not listen soon about hopscotch or about one-two-tree-star… Meanwhile good cheecoting treat to all of us!
