The intake of sugar, in recent years, has been demonized by food trend, paediatricians, and advertisements for "sugar free" products! But the real result is that consumption of sugar has increased by 50% in fifteen years!
Banning sweets to the children is not good, it is better to learn to not eat too many and to better know sugars.
In the things we eat sugars are often stowaways: did you know that in a flavoured fruit yogurt there are 10 grams of added sugar (= 2 sugar lump), a chocolate croissant contains 7 sugar lumps and lots of fat!
All nutritionists recommend to reduce by one quarter the consumption of added sugars.
Sugars are essential to a balanced diet, are easily assimilated and once converted into glucose become real fuel for our brain.
Taking too much sugar is very harmful to health, can cause chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity or tooth decay and decrease the appetite.
Then there are popular beliefs that may mislead: the taste of dark chocolate is more bitter, but is no less sweet than milk chocolate, because both have quite the same sugar and fat quantity; raw sugar is better, false all types of sugar, from cane or beet sugar, more or less refined, have the same nutritional value, containing 99% sucrose and vitamins!
Let give the sugar the right space in our diet and remember that the attraction to the sweet taste is innate in humans and come from afar, from the womb: sugar comforts, soothes and calms the pain ... that is way, sweets and cakes belong to the childhood, they are treasures for children...
