Sun-rush, no thank's!

eritema-solareLet's go to the sea!
When we bring children to the sea we do not always know how to behave.
On one hand the studies underline the importance that seaside has for children, on the other hand they incessantly warn about the risks linked with sun exposure.
Among positive and negative aspects, it is not easy to find the right balance. So, going back home after the beach, children, but also grown-ups, can feel tedious effects.
Among the problems linked with sun exposure, the rash is the most frequent and widespread. Caused by ultraviolet short lenght rays, it appears as a skin reddening, often accompanied by bubbles, characterized by intense itching and in the most serious cases by fever and a general malaise.
A burn in other words, which tends to affect mainly the chest and the face, and that mitigates within 5-7 days, during which it is clearly unthinkable to go back to the sun.
If the affected area is very large it is fundamental to receive an appropriate medical treatment.
As usual, however, prevention is better than having a treatment, so we should follow a set of good rules to avoid serious damage to the child health.
It would be good to remember that the clear and fragile skin of the child does not have a temperature control system fully developed, so it is difficult to perceive when the skin is too hot. The child may be exposed to the sun only after the sixth month, never in the hottest hours, between 11 and 16, and never keeping still. It is important to wear always a hat with large brims, sunglasses, T-shirt and shorts in cotton, linen or jeans.
It is essential to wet repeatedly the child's hair and to bring often him in the the shadow.
A great attention must be paid to the choice of the protective cream, which must have a protection level higher than 15 and must be resistant to water and sweat.
The cream must be applicated every 2, 3 hours.
In this way, pleasant walks on strand ensure the child and their parents a beautiful tan, which is sign of health.
